Celebration of Silver Jubilee Year of ISSGPU: 

The celebrations of Silver Jubilee Year of ISSGPU will commence from January 2006 and the following activities are proposed during this period

1. Selection of Bhed-Bakri and Khargosh Pandit from the Semi-arid and arid cluster of Rajasthan, Uttaranchal, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala and other States of the country. The committee of following members will select Bhed-Bakri and Khargosh Pandits from different region of the country.

The selection of above pandits will be completed by February 2006.

2. Calling of Status and Review papers for Silver Jubilee Special Issue. The papers will be invited from the emminent persons who have made landmark contributions in field of Animal Science within the ambit of the Society. The committee of following members will publish the ISSGPU Silver Jubilee Special Issue.

The tentative time for completing of this Silver Jubilee Issue is upto 15th Febuary 2006. A Silver Jubilee Issue of ISSGPU will be published in supplementary volume (12) of the ISSGPU journal.

3. Organizing Quiz Contest of progressive farmers will be organized at different regions of the country during various interactive meetings of the society. 

4. Brain Storming Session of all the scientists of the Institutes, Entrepreneurs, Cooperative banks, NGOs, mediators in marketing of animals etc. In the brain storming session, the problems of the farmers will be discussed. 

5. Monthly news of ISSGPU in State and National papers. Dr. S.C. Sharma will be the responsible person for organizing this activity.

6. Summary and Recommendations of 25 years research published in ISSGPU Journal. During the Silver Jubilee celebration one “ Bulletin of ISSGPU at a Glance” will be published in which the recommendations of the 25 years of ISSGPU Journal and seminar will be cited. The committee of following members will be responsible to prepare the document.

7. Award for Designing of a new Emblem of ISSGPU Silver Jubilee. The President ISSGPU has constituted the committee of following members for above-mentioned cause.

Nomination for Fellow ISSGPU:
The President ISSGPU had made a committee of following member for the screening of ISSGPU Fellows from the Life Member list of the society.

The committee has identified 25 eminent scientists to be honoured as “Founder Fellows of the ISSGPU”.At the out set the society has proposed to honour Dr. A.L. Chaudhry as the first ISSGPU Fellow. This honour will be given to him on 9th January 2006 at CSWRI, Avikanagar.
 Subsequently, Dr. R.M. Acharya, Dr. B.C. Patnayak, and Dr. B.U. Khan will be honoured as ISSGPU Fellows on 4 - 5 March 2006 at CIRG Makhdoom subject to their availability at Makhdoom. 
 


Drive for increasing the numbers of life members of the society and Sale of ISSGPU publications
At present the ISSGPU has 489 Life Members. The Executive Body felt that there is an urgent need to increase the number of Life Members of the Society. A formal request will be made to the Scientists and Technical Officers of the CSWRI/ CIRG/SAUS/Animal husbandry depts/NGO’S for becoming Life Members of the Society. 

PAN Number and IT Return of ISSGPU
The Society has filed its Income Tax return for the year 2004-2005.


 
Selling of ISSGPU publications on it’s stall:
It was decided that publications of Society will be sold in seminars to be organized by the Society at different places of the country. A banner of Society will be made and The Society will have a stall in every farmer’s fair and seminar. 

Nomination of Assistant Editor:
The executive body of the Society nominated Dr. A.K. Goyal Sr. Scientist, CIRG Makhdoom, as the Second Assistant Editor of the “Indian Journal of Small Ruminants”.  

Forthcoming Events:
1. Foundation day of the Central Sheep and Wool Research Institute Avikanagar will be celebrated for a week from 2 to 7 January 2006. 

2. National Seminar on “Commercial Goat and Sheep Farming and Marketing: Farmer- Industry-Researcher Interface” will be held at CIRG, Makhdoom, in 4 –5 March 2006. This seminar has been approved by the executive body with a condition that organizer will return money of the Society along with 10 % additional saving. The Executive Body has approved an amount of Rs 3 lakhs for the seminar. The advance may be drawn by the organizing secretary as and when required.

3. The second Seminar will be organized in south India at any one of these places ( Madurai, Nammakal, Tirupati, Katupkkam, Bangalore, Hyderabad). The Executive Committee of the Society approved the name of Dr. J.S. Mann as Organizing Secretary and Dr. S. Parthasarthy as Co-Organizing Secretary.

4. The third Seminar is proposed to be held at J&K. The Society will make correspondence with Dr Nagendra Sharma (Vice Chanceller) of Shere-e Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, Jammu. The Society has nominated Dr. K.S.Risam as the Organizing Secretary for this seminar.

5. The fourth Seminar is proposed to be held at CSWRI, Avikanagar, during December 2006. The Organizing Secretary for this seminar will be decided in the next Executive Meeting/ General Body Meeting to be held at CIRG Makhdoom during 4-5 March 2006.

6. The fifth Seminar on Hill Animal Husbandry has been proposed at NTRS, Garsa. The date will be decided in the next Executive Meeting.

7. An Interactive Meeting on Sensitization of State Administration to Broiler Rabbit Rearing will be held at Avikanagar on 8th January 2006. 

8. The executive body approved the Interactive Meeting to be held on 28th January 2006 at CIRG, Makhdoom.

9. An Interactive Meeting on Broiler Rabbit will be held at Mannavanur during Feburary. 2006. Dr. S. Parthasarathy will be the Organizing Secretary of the seminar.
