INDIAN SOCIETY FOR SHEEP AND GOAT PRODUCTION AND UTILIZATION
(ISSGPU)
Forth-Coming Events:
1. National Seminar on Conservation and processing and utilization of monsoon herbage for augmenting animal production.
Organized at ARC Bikaner from 17 to 18h December 2005.
2. Net work project on sheep improvement organized at NTRS Garsa from 17 to 18 October 2005.
3. Foundation day week of the Central Sheep and wool research Institute Avikanagar from 2 to 7 January 2006.
Celebration of Silver Jubilee Year of ISSGPU:
The silver jubilee year of ISSGPU will commence from January 2006 and following activities are proposed during this period.
1.Selection of Bhed-Bakri Pandit from the Semi arid and arid cluster of Rajasthan, Uttaranchal, Gujarat, H.P., U.P, A.P., J &
K, T.N., Karnataka Kerala and other states of the country.
2.Calling of Status and Review papers for Silver Jubilee Special Issue.
3.Organizing Quiz Contest of progressive farmers form different regions of the country.
4.Brain Storming Session of all the scientist of the Institutes, entrepreneurs, cooperative banks, NGOs, mediators in
marketing of animals etc.
5.Monthly news of ISSGPU in State and National papers.
6.Summary and recommendations of 25 years research published in ISSGPU Journal.
7.Award for contest in Designing new Emblem of ISSGPU Silver Jubilee.
The executive member were of the opinion that the item 1, 3 and 4 should be clubbed. To organize these activities the society
will take lead along with other Institutes, NGO and different organizations. The time-wise activities will be taken up
region-wise, distributed throughout the Silver Jubilee year.
The selection of Bhed-Bakri Pandit will be done from the different agro climatic zones (North temperate, North West,
Eastern and Southern region). From the each region 2 pandits will be selected. The society will bear all the expenses of the
selected Bhed-Bakri Pandits. The following person will be responsible for selecting Bhed-Bakri Pandits from the different
region of the country.

I/C Garsa: for J&K, H.P and U.A

The quiz contest and felicitation of Bhed-Bakri Pandits will be organized at different regions of the country during the
different interactive meeting of the society. In the brain storming session, the problems of the farmers will be discussed.
The status and review paper will be invited from mark persons who have landmark contribution in the field of Animal Science
with in the ambit of the society.
The monthly news of ISSGPU in the state and national paper will be published for the wide publicity of the society.
The executive committee approved the proposal for the making new silver jubilee emblem of the ISSGPU. For the best designed
emblem a prize of Rs. 1000/ will be given to winner.
During the silver jubilee celebration one bulletin of “ISSGPU at a glance” will be published highlighting the achievements
made by the society during the 2 years of its existence. A silver jubilee issue of ISSGPU will be published in supplementary
volume (12) of the ISSGPU journal.
